The US-122mkII by TASCAM gives you everything you need to start recording without breaking the bank. Two microphone inputs equipped with phantom power
The TASCAM US-122mkII features a pair of XLR microphone inputs to give you a ton of recording possibilities. You can record your band's practice sessions in stereo with a pair of mics, or you can mic up your guitar or amplifier and record yourself singing as you play. And since the microphone inputs have optional phantom power, you can use condensers as well as dynamic mics.

There are also two 1/4" line inputs on the TASCAM US-122mkII in addition to the two microphone inputs. That's great news if you play keyboard or want to record a drum machine to jam on top of. The US-122mkII also has MIDI in and out, so you can connect your keyboard or MIDI controller and hook up to your virtual instruments. And with the switchable hi-Z instrument input, you can plug your guitar directly into the US-122mkII and access a world of virtual processors, effects, and amplifier models in your favorite DAW to get the sound you want. You also have a 1/4" headphone output and a pair of RCA outputs you can connect your monitors to.
USB 2.0-powered portability lets you record anywhere with a laptop
The US-122mkII is ultra-portable, with its small footprint and rugged aluminum frame. Since it's powered right off of the USB bus, you don't need an AC adapter. That means you can take your US-122mkII with you anywhere, and just by hooking it up to your laptop computer, you're ready for mobile recording. It's great for snagging the mix off of a live console and recording your band as you gig out, or for keeping a record of your rehearsal sessions.

The TASCAM US-122mkII is capable of a surprisingly high level of sound quality, when you consider it's great price. It records all the way up to 24-bit/96kHz resolution.
