Introduction

Just when you thought you had seen neon in or on about everything, along comes something new.  This something is the Tt G4-VGA CoolMod chipset cooler.  This idea is pretty straight forward: take a big VGA cooler, cover it with a Plexiglas top, then stick a neon bulb on it - Presto!  Let's take a look at this but before we do; we want to thank VARALLI for making this review possible by providing us the VGA CoolMod.

We decided to make this review, cover a few things at once.  Recently we posted up our review of the BFG Asylum GF4 Ti-4200.  We decided to push this card a bit further using the CoolMod registry entries as well as some Tweakmonster RAMsinks.  I'm a big fan of these little sinks.  Not only do they perform well but they look great!  Let's start with the G4-VGA CoolMod.

Included with the CoolMod are two pairs of smaller aluminum heatspreaders for memory, as well as corresponding lengths of thermal tape.  An adapter is included for the CoolMod fan which has a three pin female plug.  The power line is especially short so you are pretty much going to have to use the adapter.  Another two inches of length is all that would have been needed to allow us to plug into a mainboard header.  If you want to monitor the VGA CoolMod's fan speed you will need some type of three pin extender so you can get it hooked up to something to measure its speed.  I have no clue where or who has those.
