Frank is a drunk--that is quickly established. So are a number of other things, e.g., the town of Coopers Mill is charming but almost claustrophobically small; the abduction of two young school girls in broad daylight on a busy street has just transpired; and the police force is competent but over its head. Enslen has skillfully created some very memorable characters, not the least being one very likable bad guy. A Field Of Red is a good read.
